Content:
This class focuses on teaching your dog the verbal discrimination of different obstacles and also cues at a jump. The goal is for your dog to understand the principle of verbal obstacle discrimination and to decide and work the cued obstacle without the help of the handler. We will build the understanding of the cues of the different obstacles with the help of a cue-based obstacle focus, which we will teach our dogs in the first level. We will also work on finding obstacles, making correct decisions in different discrimination situations and accepting various handler positions and movements. Another part of the class will be to work on layering situations combined with obstacle discrimination and to consolidate this knowledge in the final level with several exercises.

We will mainly focus on the verbal discrimination of jump, tunnel and weaves as well as A-frame/dogwalk/seesaw.

Requirement:
Minimum age: 18 months

Your dog should already be familiar with all the used obstacles, as this is not an advanced class for teaching the behaviour at these obstacles, but rather a class focusing on discriminating cues for them. You should be able to train 2-3 times per week during the class. The required obstacles may vary within the exercises.

It is also possible to start the class with younger dogs, but then only train the obstacles your dog already knows.

The 5 levels:

Level 1: Cue-based obstacle focus – the foundation for obstacle discrimination

Level 2: Defining and finding individual obstacles

Level 3: Introducing discrimination and testing the understanding

Level 4: Layering and various discrimination situations

Level 5: Different exercises to consolidate the obstacle discrimination

Platform:

Before the class starts, I will create a private Facebook group for all participants where I will provide the content in text and video form and Active or AuditorPLUS participants can post their videos. I’ll post a new level every 10 days – but don’t stress yourself: You have 13 weeks to complete the class.

Please note: You cannot participate without an active Facebook account!

Participation:

I will be offering three different types of participation – Active, AuditorPLUS, and Auditor.

Active:

Active spots are limited to 8 spots. Active participants will be able to view all class content in text and video form, as well as ask general questions about the class and view videos, feedback, and other discussions from Active or AuditorPLUS participants.

Active feedback period (May 25 – June 14 and July 13 – August 23): In addition, active participants can post a maximum of three videos per week, limited to 7 minutes per video, and receive my individual feedback on them during the feedback period described below.

Passive feedback period (June 15 – July 12): In the passive feedback period, you can only post a maximum of one video per week, limited to 7 minutes per video and receive my individual feedback on it during the feedback period described below. This period is necessary to give the dogs time to process and consolidate the different verbal commands.

AuditorPLUS:

AuditorPLUS spots are limited to 20 spots. AuditorPLUS participants will be able to view all class content in text and video form, as well as ask general questions about the class and view videos, feedback, and other discussions from Active or AuditorPLUS participants. In addition, AuditorPLUS participants have the option to post a total of two videos, limited to 7 minutes, during the 13 weeks to receive individual feedback from me within the feedback period described below. This can be used, for example, if you are stuck on a level and don’t know what to do.

If more feedback is desired, additional videos can be posted on top of the two videos for a fee of 20€ per video.

Auditor:

Auditor spots are not limited. Auditors will be able to view all class content in text and video form, as well as ask general questions about the class and view videos, feedback, and other discussions from Active or AuditorPLUS participants.

Registration for an Active or AuditorPLUS spot is not a binding commitment! If there are more registrations than available spots, some participants may have to be graduated according to the scheme queried in the registration form.

Feedback:

I usually write feedback to your videos within the next two days, excluding Sundays. In some cases, you may receive your feedback a little later.

Registration Deadline:

All registrations for Active and AuditorPLUS spots received by May 11 will be considered concurrently and will be treated equally. Auditor spots can still be booked after the start of the class.

Expenses:
Active: 225€/2.600NOK
AuditorPLUS: 145€/1.700NOK
Auditor: 115€/1.300NOK

AuditorPLUS/Auditor: After the registration, you will receive a confirmation email with information and an invitation to the Facebook group.
Active: A maximum of eight working spots is available for the online seminar. If more than eight applications are received, a selection will be made to ensure a varied group of teams for the working spots. The selection will take place after the application deadline of 11 May. Applicants will be notified by email no later than 18 May regarding the spot they have been offered. The payment invoice will be sent together with the offer. You will get access to the private Facebook group only after payment has been received.
